FAQ

Straight Stairlifts

For straight staircases (i.e. no curves, bends or landings), Emprise Stairlifts recommends the ThyssenKrupp HomeGlide Stairlift.

HomeGlide Stairlifts - HomeGlide, HomeGlide Extra and HomeGlide Outdoor

Developed in collaboration with orthopaedists and physiotherapists, the HomeGlide is designed with great attention to ergonomics as well as easy operation without sacrificing elegance and high safety standards.  The HomeGlide has the simplicity that allows the stairlift to be installed very quickly. Fitted directly onto a staircase cleanly and discreetly, the stairlift glides effortlessly along an aluminium track.  Going up and down the stairs has never been so easy.

HomeGlide HomeGlide Extra

The video shows the HomeGlide (the entry level model) in operation. The HomeGlide stairlift for straight staircases offers reliability and robust quality without compromising on safety and at a very competitive price.

The HomeGlide Extra model offers a number of key enhancements.

  • The seat is ergonomically shaped to the user with curved armrests to provide an extra feeling of security while travelling.

  • The seat and footrest are linked such that the footrest folds up with the seat, removing the need to bend down to fold the footrest manually.

  • The HomeGlide Extra can be upgraded with the powered swivel option.  In addition to making turning the stairlift at the top of the stairs effortless, the powered swivel seat also includes adjustable seat height with five different heights to choose between.

Both models can be fitted with a hinge rail - where the end of the rail might otherwise be an obstruction, the powered hinge rail is controlled via the remote control so that the lower section of the rail quietly folds away leaving the doorway or passageway clear.

Feature of All HomeGlide Models

Easy Installation

The HomeGlide stairlift can be installed within a few hours, without any works being required to the walls (the HomeGlide rail is fixed to the stairs).  With the wireless Call & Send stations, there will be no exposed cables or wires. (Access to a standard power point at the top or bottom is required to charge the stairlift's batteries.)

Easy to Use

The ergonomically design joystick offers easy driving of the chair in the desired direction.

Use the wireless call and send station to call or send the chair to the desired floor.

The seat of the HomeGlide Opens and closes with a simple gesture, creating more space when the lift is not in use.

Swivel Seat

Once arrived at the landing, the chair swivels in the direction of the landing allowing you to get on and off the seat safe and free from hazards.

Anti-Crush

The HomeGlide is equipped with safety sensors which allow the chair to stop smoothly in case of any obstacles or obstructions on the stairs.

Anti-Blackout

The HomeGlide is battery operated, allowing you to always complete your journey, even in the event of a power failure. The batteries will automatically recharge when the chair is parked at its charging stations.

Comfort, Elegance and Safety

The HomeGlide comes in vinyl upholstery which can be cleaned easily, an anti-slip footrest and ergonomic controls. The armrests of the HomeGlide are designed to give you full support while getting on and off the chair. The retractable seatbelts give extra security during the ride.

Slimline Design

With its slimline design, most of the staircase is left clear for other members of the household when the stairlift is folded up in its "park" position.

Avoid Obstacles

The HomeGlide's rail can be fitted with a powered hinge which can be used when the rail comes close to a door or similar obstacle.

Audible Fault Reporting

The HomeGlide will alert the user with a series of beeps if there is a problem.

Hinge Rail

A Hinge Rail is available for the end section of the rail when a standard stairlift rail may present an obstruction to a doorway or walkway at the foot of the stairs. The end of the rail can be folded up when the stairlift is not in use, freeing up space in front of the stairs.

The HomeGlide hinge rail is powered - via the remote control handset the lower section of the rail quietly folds away, leaving the doorway or passageway clear.

The stairlift can be parked at the top of the stairs or at a point along the rail, with a charging station installed at that point.

The stairlift in the images is a HomeGlide Extra but the hinge rail is available on both the HomeGlide and HomeGlide Comfort indoor models.

HomeGlide Extra - ready to use. Folded, parked and hinge rail up.

The HomeGlide Outdoor comes standard with an easy to clean protective cover for when the chair is not in use.
